History of Mercedes

There comes to nuesto blog dedicated to the engine the most ancient manufacturer of motorcars of the world, Mercedes-Benz. Karl Benz founded Benz in 1881, made his first vehicle in 1886, a tricycle that received the same name. For his part Daimler was born in 1882 like engines factory gas and in 1885 he constructed a vehicle with mount, authentic precursor of the current motorcycles, moved by an engine of gasoline. At the beginning of the XXth century a Hungarian merchant called Emil Jellinek entrusted to Daimler a luxurious, fast and powerful car to sell it on the French market. Daimler and his engineer Maybach they started working and of that order there was born the model 35 PS. To be gained the French public Jellinek he decided to put the name of his daughter Mercedes to the car. The success of the vehicle led Daimler to supporting the above mentioned name for the rest of his models.

In the 20s, the situation of Daimler and Benz was not very encouraging. Both were devoting themselves to make cars of high scale, the economic situation was bad, his production process was antiquated and was turning out to be very expensive, finally, they were exposed to the disappearance. In 1926 they decided to fuse and named like engineer chief Ferdinad Porsche. The new company kept on making luxurious vehicles but also it began to deliver smaller and modest models as 170.

The years that passed between two big world conflicts were excellent for the German economy and Mercedes-Benz saw growing his production and his sales. In this epoch and chosen by the Reich like mark of the diet, Mercedes developed the first tourism with diesel engine, the model 260 D, and obtained numerous sports successes.

As soon as the war was finished to Mercedes it found it hard to him to recover very much, his production for several years consisted of designs previous to the Second World war. It was not until the fifties, that Mercedes re-arose strongly from the hand of the series 180 and especially from the mythical called sports one 300 SL or “Wings of Gull”.
