Fiat was born in Turin after the meeting supported by thirty businessmen whose common target was the motorcars manufacture. His first measurement was the buy of a small-scale enterprise that had initiated the cars production next to the pasta factory of G. Lancia. Located in Corsican Dante de Turín, the first Fiat factory was provided with 12.000 square meters and at her 150 persons were employed. The first bulging cars of this factory were taking rear engine and were similar to those that the acquired company was constructing. Soon, the group of businessmen directed by Giovanni Agnelli, entrusted the manufacture of a new front engine.
In the year 1906 approximately 2.500 persons were already employed at the Fiat facilities, the future of the mark was splendid, dedicated to constructing luxurious motorcars, he made use of the success that his cars in hands of the proper Agnelli and of Vicenzo Lancia (son of the proprietor of the factory of pasta and future Lancia founder) were obtaining in the different sports competitions. In 1912 the manufacture began in chain of model Zero and soon there would come models as the Balilla and the Topolino that were made in Italy and in other countries.
After the 2nd World war, Fiat was making small models, perfect refuge again to take impulse, to penetrate into new fields and to broaden horizons. Directed by the family Agnelli, Fiat always began to acquire the rest of Italian signatures dedicated to the world of the motorcar, first there were Lancia, Abarth, Autobianchi and mythical Ferrari along with his racing team of Formula 1. Later and in 1979 the Group Fiat was created and to previously quoted there joined Innocenti, Alpha Romeo and Maserati, along with the marks of trucks Unic and Iveco.
Nevertheless, at the end of the 80 and all the 90, the Italian group did not happen in his best moments and the bogey of the failure was watching him. In 1999 it turned out to be forced to sign a cooperation agreement with the American giant General Motors.
At the beginning of the XXIst century, the Italian signature re-arose again thanks to his models Grande Punto, Brave and to the new one 500.
