Other of the concept presented by Toyota in the last Lounge of the Motorcar of Tokyo along with the FT 86 about which we have already spoken to you in this blog, is the FT-EV II. This small urban prototype of zero emission, is an evolution of the model presented at the beginning of year in Detroit.
This model as his predecessor is based on the Toyota IQ and is the study base for a new model of electrical car that will see the light very probably in the year 2012. His design is more futurist enough than that of the IQ, his hood includes more glazed surface, where the front optical groups are placed, and his windshield is bigger what it grants him major visibility. The doors of this concept are sliding what he allows him to park in improbable places.
We find the truly novel thing in his interior, where Toyota has arranged a cockpit very similar to that of a spaceship. A Joystick does the functions of frill, pedals and gearbox. This new device is prepared to accelerate, brake and change of direction and supposes a space saving for the sake of the occupants. The FT-EV II only measures 2,7 meters long (50 centimeters less than a Toyota IQ) and in his interior it lodges four small squares.
Thought exclusively to move for city, the FT-EV II benefits from an increase in the autonomy of his batteries of lithium that now they allow him to cover up to 90 kilometers without being loaded. This is the daily urban covered maximum as diverse studies realized by the Japanese signature. This concept can reach a 100 km maximum speed / h.
Toyota is very close to developing the one that will be the microurban one of the future and waiting that the model of final production, in 2012, obtains even better yields than the FT-EV II.
