The German signature continues with the development of more and more efficient and respectful cars with the environment. In our blog dedicated to the engine we analyze one of his last innovations, a concept called BlueZERO E-Plus CELL. This hybrid, capable of rolling helped only about his electrical engine in short trips, it can combine his use, with a combustion engine and enjoy a much higher autonomy.
This concept of Mercedes has developed on the platforms of the Class To and Class B. The E-bonus Cell incorporates a few ión-lithium batteries into capacity for 18 kWh that give energy to an electrical engine capable of developing a maximum potency of 100 kW (136 CV) with a maximum turning moment of 320 Nm. With the only help of this engine the car can displace approximately 100 kilometers without expressing only one gram of CO2 to the ambience.
The BlueZERO of Mercedes has also, of a small combustion engine turboalimentado and with three cylinders that it does the generator times. With 68 potency CV the combustion engine helps to generate the necessary electric power to recharge the batteries and the autonomy of the vehicle increases up to 600 kilometers. With the combustion engine in functioning, the level of emission of this prototype is located in 32 grams of CO2 expressed to the ambience per kilometer.
The E-bonus Cell will be able to recharge his batteries if we connect it to a capture of conventional current or to a special adapter with capacity of load of 20 kW. The adapter manages in half an hour to load partially the batteries and have a 50 kilometers autonomy, if we wait one hour for the load it will be finished. If we have not this system of rapid load and must connect the car to the domestic network, the load time must be six hours for a maximum autonomy.
The configuration of the E-bonus Cell allows an easy handling and a very docile behavior of the vehicle. The electrical engine is placed in the front axis, that of combustion in the bottom and the batteries in the center, with what the weight share-out is good and does not put in danger the stability of the car. In spite of being a hybrid car, his services are very interesting, since this Mercedes spends from 0 to 100 km / h in little more than 10 seconds and reaches a 150 km maximum speed / h, over the allowed in our highways.
