Ford's history

There comes to our blog of the engine the history of the American builder of cars excellently, Ford. Founded more than 100 years ago by Henry Ford, the American signature was the first one in initiating the massive motorcars production. A model, the T, went out for 18 years without rest of his chains of assembly, turning into one of the models most sold and acquaintances of the history of the motorcar.

The company was founded in 1903 with the capital contributed by twelve investors, 28.000 dollars, between which there was Henry Ford who named the company. In his beginnings, Ford, was producing small cars quantities with components made of other companies and a limited number of workpeople was employed at every unit up to his final assembly. Ford began here his unstoppable growth up to turning into one of the biggest companies of the world.

In 1908 the model appeared T, the success of the vehicle was such, that forced Ford to move his production to a bigger plant to be able to satisfy the enormous vehicles demand. Already in the new plant of Highland Park and 5 years later, Ford had already developed all the skills necessary for the production in mass and had created the line of mobile production. With these advances in the way of constructing cars, the American signature managed to reduce the time of assembly of the chassis from 12 hours and a half until only 100 minutes.

Thanks to this new production skill, Ford T, was the most sold car of that epoch, only in his first year more than 10.550 of these vehicles were mounted. In 1921, the model T, was representing 56,6 % of the whole world production of motorcars.

Other one of the big ideas of the mark, was the massive publicity, Ford, he was making sure that his product should promise to be in every newspaper, first in Detroit and then in the rest of the world. His concessionaires' system, it was allowing to him the motorcar to be ready to be sold in every city of the United States. The owners of the above mentioned concessionaires saw that that was a big business and helped to expand the motoring fever throughout the country. In that epoch the first car clubs were born.

Ford also thought about the old continent and designed a model, 8 HP, I specify for Europe. At present it supports this philosophy, in his plants distributed all over the world, creates motorcars being based on the tastes and local needs.

In 1926, the model T began to be already obsolete, his sales began to fall down and this convinced Henry Ford that was the moment to create a new motorcar. The same one embarked in the project and with the help of his son Edsel they designed Ford To. Ford's new model appeared in December, 1927 and he was constructed until 1931 with an entire production of four million units. In this epoch the company adopted the system of annual modification of the product that lasts until our days.

At present Ford keeps on being one of the biggest corporations of the world and Ford remains directed by the family from his foundation. Ford Motor Company includes also Mercury, Lincoln, Mazda and Volvo.
