EB 110, almost the end of Bugatti

The intention of the financier Romano Artioli when he bought the mark Bugatti, today does not know yet the price that he paid for it, it was to re-stimulate the legend of the mark created by Ettore Bugatti at the beginning of century. The elected model was this EB 110, that today we bring to you our blog dedicated to the engine. That new Bugatti myth supposed, nevertheless, almost definitive disappearance of the signature.

The designer chosen to give form to the new Bugatti was Marcello Gandini, creator between others of mythical Lancia Stratos or Lamborghini Countach. On September 15, 1991, and owing to 110 anniversary of the founding deceased of Bugatti (Ettore Bugatti), it appears in the Lounge of the Motorcar of Paris, the EB 110, one supersports that would not make anybody indifferent.

The Bugatti EB 110 had a propellent with 12 cylinders arranged in V of 3.500 cc and it was fed by neither more nor less than four turbo-compressors to offer an entire potency of 550 CV. Every cylinder was provided with five valves for a whole of 60 (36 of admission and 24 of leakage). His chassis monohull was an autoamble and it was constructed in carbon fibre, his aluminum bodywork was containing the weight of the set in 1.550 kilos. Associated a gearbox of six relations was going to the engine and it was provided with permanent entire haulage with viscous differential and later autoblocante. His 18 inches rims had anchored a few enormous 245/40 tires in the front wheels and 325/30 in the rears.

Later there developed a more powerful version, the EB 110 SS, which slimmed 50 kilos on the previous version and received progress in the engine so that this one was going so far as to deliver 611 potency CV. The SS had a mobile aileron (according to the speed), rims again I design, retakes of ventilation and a dashboard of aluminum. His speed top was reaching 352 km / h for 345 km / h of the previous version.

Four years after his presentation, the EB 110, it did not reach the targets that Bugatti had marked for his sales and if to this we add the high cost of production of the model, the Italian signature gave payments suspension. In 1997, Dauer Racing was in charge of recapturing the model, after taking responsibility of the debt and with a compound staff almost in its entirety for ex-personnel of the Italian signature, improved the EB 110 and presented it to a select group of persons during the celebration of the Big Award of Monaco of Formula 1 in the year 2001 as DAUER EB 110 Centuries.
