Impelled by the Government of his country in the middle of the 60, he was born with the premise of constructing cheap cars within reach of all. There comes to our blog of the engine the history of the first Rumanian manufacturer of cars, Dacia, nowadays, integrated in the group Renault.

Created in 1966 under the patronage of the Rumanian Government, Dacia decided to initiate his production with a low made model he licenses, since the development of a completely new model was very costly. After studying proposals of several European marks like Fiat, Peugeot or Volkswagen, finally Renault was chosen to buy the license of manufacture of one of his models. The elected one was the Renault 8 and this way the first Dacia was born, under the name of 1100, it was an exact copy of the French model.

In 1969, the manufacture of the model gave in 1100 to initiate that of the series 1200/1300/1400, this time based on the recent model of Renault called R-12, a car with engines of 1.185 cc to 1.397 cc and you promote from 48 to 63 CV respectively.
